Three yellow buses rolled through Twin Rivers just before the winter break, loaded with boxes of food and wrapped gifts for 20 families in need. Also on board were Santa and Mrs. Claus, along with other volunteers from the Twin Rivers central office.
“Thank you TRUSD for the love ... we are so grateful and humbled by the gifts,” responded student Nani Poloai. “Maybe there really is a Santa Claus after all.”
The volunteers started their day at the Sacramento Food Bank where they picked up donations of fresh fruits and vegetables. Before deliveries began, the buses stopped by the district office to collect gifts for all members of the families that were on the routes.
The gifts were donated and wrapped by central office volunteers.
